Title: The Universe in Infrared: Astronomy with the James Webb Space Telescope
Since its launch in 2021, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has explored the Universe with images and spectroscopy in the infrared regime (0.6-27.9 microns). With its unprecedented resolution at these wavelengths, JWST continues to push our understanding of the universe, providing key insights to topics including the origin and evolution of galaxies, stars, and planets. In this talk, we will tour the Universe in infrared to explore what makes JWST the “premier observatory” of the 2020s, the engineering feats that made it possible, and its science results – including my own efforts to identify stellar and substellar companions to ancient Galactic halo stars with its data.
