Belgian beer in the U.S.

The foundation of Three Taverns lies in our love and respect for the rich traditions and creative brewing of Belgian beers. This is reflected in the beers we brewed on day 1 and continues today with beers such as Inceptus, Feest Noel, and Imaginarium Project beers like our new open-fermented Saison, Interruption.

The fine folks over at Good Beer Hunting wrote a great piece about what it means to be "Belgian inspired" in today's ever-changing beer landscape. We're honored to be included in this story alongside Belgian brewing pioneer, Brassiere de la Senne, and Belgian-inspired peers such as Allagash, Monkish, and New Belgium. Kölsch War!

We split the entire staff into two brewing teams with one mission: who can brew the best and most interesting Kölsch beer? The outcome:

KÖLSCH 45
A 4.5% dry-hopped Kölsch that is crisp and refreshing.

KRÖSÉ
A 4.1% Kölsch with hibiscus that takes on notes of Rosé wine.

Come into the brewery (now until the kegs are kicked - check our social media) and decide for yourself which will be crowned the Kölsch War champion!

Behind the 3 | Nate Prittie

Nate Prittie joined Three Taverns almost 4 years ago and in addition to brewing some of your favorite beers he also oversees our barrel program. Read more about him below in our "Behind the 3" feature, where we highlight instrumental folks of Three Taverns:

How did you first get into craft beer?
My first encounter with craft beer was with sweetwater 420 at the end of high school. It became an obsession of trying new beers and learning more about different styles and the brewing bug bit not long after that.

What do you like most about your job?
Talking about and researching new brews for the pilot system (especially obscure old world styles), shoveling spent grain, and discussing various hypothetical brewery disaster scenarios.

Where were you born/did you grow up?
Born and raised in Decatur/Atlanta

Favorite place to eat in Atlanta?
Doggy Dogg or Nuevo Laredo or Homegrown or Thai Chili or We Suki Suki or Fat Matt’s.

Favorite place to drink in Atlanta?
The S.O.S. late night, The Porter mid-day on a weekday, Kimball House for date night, Victory anytime.

Desert Island beer?
Pilsner Urquell

Favorite drink besides beer?
Martini (w/ lemon twist NOT olives!)

Interests/hobbies that are not beer-related
Mostly raising kids now but I used to enjoy golf, tennis, and camping.
